| Visitor facilities:
MHAC facilities are available for hire. We offer accommodations
for guest trainees, as well as conferences, seminars, and workshops on sustainable development. Set on 41.5 acres of land, MHAC's
organic farming demonstration and research gardens, along with various
livestock facilities, provide a practical model of a functional GROW
BIOINTENSIVE farming system to the trainees, farmers, and staff of NGOs and
government agricultural agencies.
As part of your event, our staff is ready to provide classes and
training to visiting groups, if desired.
Hostel: We provide self-contained
hostel accommodations for trainees and seminar/workshop participants. MHAC has the facilities for 100
guests. Each room is adequately furnished
for the occupant?s comfort and security.
Toilets and bathroom facilities have terrazzo floors, wall tiles, shower
trays, hot water system, and new utilities.
Library/Resource Centre: Our newly remodeled library functions also as an Information and Community Resource Centre (IRC) coordinating with other internet centres. The
library is equipped with text books, journals, scientific papers,
theses, newsletters, etc. Computers, printers, and Internet services
are also available for use by conference facilitators, students,
trainers, farmers, and researchers. The library affords a quiet place
for study.
Dining: Our dining hall and kitchen have recently been renovated to be more spacious, hygenic, and to meet international standards of service. Our cuisine is, of course, all organic, and our highly trained, friendly catering staff are known for their excellent dishes and services rivaling the best international hotels in the country.
Health Clinic: MHAC has a modern health clinic with a government registered day-duty nurse. Students and guests can be treated or vacinated against common tropical diseases such as malaria. However, guests are advised to take necessary precautions by taking appropriate vacinations ahead of time, using only the safe drinking water we provide, and sleeping under the mosquito nets found on every bed at MHAC.
Recreation: Guests are invited to actively participate in our excellent recreation facilities, including a football (soccer) field, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and an assortment of board and card games.
Chapel: Visitors are invited to join our congregation in Christian worship services at our campus chapel.
Environs: The nearness to Mt. Elgon National Park, Delta Crescent Ecotourism resort, and Kitale Nature Reserve add to the ideal environment for learning and recreation at MHAC.
